What Stops People from Hiring a Professional Coach?
Don's answer to this question addresses two categories:
1) those who are unaware of the services of a coach
2) those who believe that using a coach equates to personal weakness.

Here's what Don says about the second scenario:

"If you believe it's a sign of weakness to employ a coach, then check your ego at the door. Don't feel that you must be inadequate (like I once did) because you can't figure out everything on your own. After all, I'd invested a lot of time and money into my intellect. And I took great pride in knowing in my heart that there was nothing in this world I could not solve . . . given enough time and effort.

True, eventually I did find the answers, but when I clued in as to how long it was taking me to do this, and the effort I had to expend, I realized that at this rate I wasn't going to live long enough to achieve even half of what I wanted to achieve in this lifetime. That thought scared me enough to sit down and evaluate what was more important to me: to preserve the illusion of my ego and feel despair and disappointment at the end of my life, or solicit help from people who were willing and able to share their wisdom with me. Doing that would allow me to move on to the next adventure.

Guess which option I chose? I changed my mindset and got a coach!"

What is a Coach Not?
A coach doesn't do the work for you while you reap the benefits. Your ego wants you to believe that's the optimal result, but life just doesn't work that way. If you go to the gym and watch your fitness coach do the exercises, do you really expect to lose that belly fat? Of course not. Personal and executive coaching is no different. Your coach can lead you in the direction of achieving what you want in the shortest amount of time. But in the end, YOU have to do the work.
